We do not sell your personal data.
Some of our providers (e.g. Google) may process data outside the UK. Where this happens, we rely on recognised safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or adequacy decisions.
We keep personal data only as long as necessary for the purpose it was collected, to meet legal/accounting obligations, or to defend legal claims. Typical retention: enquiries 2 years, customer records 7 years (HMRC), marketing lists until you unsubscribe.
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@industrybody.training. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always published on this page.
Training Industry Body (company 16659360) is the controller for the personal data on its public trainer register at industrybody.training/trainers/. This section applies to trainers registered with us and to anyone who uses the register.
For each registered trainer: name as registered, TIB register reference, status (Approved, Expired, Suspended or Withdrawn), the date first approved, the date of the current status, the valid-until date while Approved, a short description of the scope of registration, the TIB-approved provider(s) we have confirmed the trainer delivers for, and any other bodies the trainer has asked us to show (labelled “declared by the trainer — not verified by TIB”). We never publish the reason for a status, any finding, contact details, or any special category data.
The register lets employers, learners, providers and assessment organisations check a trainer's current status. Publication is a condition of registration under our Trainer Registration Terms. Our lawful bases under UK GDPR are contract (Article 6(1)(b)) for a current registration, and legitimate interests in public protection (Article 6(1)(f)), in particular for continuing to show a withdrawn registration. We do not rely on consent.
An entry is shown while Approved, Expired or Suspended. A withdrawn entry is shown as Withdrawn for 24 months from the withdrawal date, then removed from public view; we keep our own record of registration decisions. The register can only be searched by name or reference — there is no list of all trainers — and we ask search engines not to index search results, but we cannot control copies held by others, such as search-engine caches or web archives.
You have the rights described in the privacy policy above, including the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests. We will assess any objection on its facts, but because the register exists to protect the public we expect there will usually be compelling grounds to continue showing a withdrawn entry for the 24-month period. To exercise a right, use our contact page. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
We record that a search took place, its type and outcome, and which entry it found when it found exactly one; that record does not contain the name or reference searched for, or your IP address. Separately, to stop the register being harvested, we limit how many searches can come from one connection in an hour. For that we keep your IP address with the time of each search for 90 days, after which a weekly clean-up deletes it (legitimate interests in preventing misuse).
