Setting and monitoring standards for the training industry.
Training Industry Body is an industry body for training providers and trainers, starting with first aid. We publish standards, run independent quality assurance, and back every certificate with a verifiable record — so employers, providers and learners can trust what they're looking at.
An industry body, not a regulator.
Training Industry Body is a Company Limited by Guarantee. We run a voluntary accreditation scheme for training providers and trainers — starting with first aid, with other subject areas to follow. Providers who want their courses assessed against a published standard, and trainers who want their credentials verified and monitored, can join our scheme. Employers, assessment organisations and learners can check a provider's or trainer's status, and verify a certificate, at any time.
Four things we build everything on.
Published standards
What we expect of approved providers and registered trainers is written down, versioned, and public — not a private checklist.
Independent quality assurance
Monitoring and approval decisions are made by independent external quality assurers, not by TIB's own officers — see our impartiality statement.
Verifiable certificates
Every certificate we back is traceable to a course, a trainer and a provider — built so anyone can check it, not just take our word for it.
Clinical governance
First aid standards follow current Resuscitation Council UK guidelines and HSE guidance, so what's taught reflects current, defensible practice.
A public catalogue of courses from every approved provider.
We're building a single place to find and check courses run by TIB-approved providers. It isn't live yet — find out more on the courses page.
